The FA operates a strict two year age band in youth football, i.e. the oldest player on the pitch must not be more than two years older than the youngest player on the pitch. This means that a player can play for a team that is a year older than him. This may be a permanent arrangement to help the Club balance its team numbers, or just temporary when a team requires a player for a few weeks to cover absence through injury or sickness. The decision by the Club to ask a player to play for an older team is not taken lightly. The Club will always ensure that it is in the best interest of the player, the team(s) affected and the Club for this to happen.
